The Department of Commercial Taxes, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh on March 18, 2025, notified regarding the arrangement for execution of licenses of retail sale shops of Bhog, Bhogghota, and Bhog sweets for the year 2025-26.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the retail sale of Bhang, Bhangghota, and Bhang Sweets for 2025-26 will continue with no new shop openings or closures, a 10% increase in reserve prices, a 10% earnest money deposit, the reserve price or highest tender offer as the annual license fee, and a mandatory 1/6th advance payment of the license fee.
• It states that for 2025-26, each Bhang, Bhangghota, and Bhang Sweets retail shop shall deposit 1/12th of the annual license fee as security, renewal tender applications will cost ₹500, renewal is allowed for compliant licensees from 2024-25, and if all shops in a district do not apply for renewal, tenders will be invited for all shops in that district.
• It states that the annual license fee for retail cannabis (Bhang) shops in Madhya Pradesh shall be paid in advance, with monthly installments due on the first working day of each month; failure to pay on time may result in supply restrictions, license cancellation, and recovery of losses as land revenue dues.
